This documentary follows the true story of an attempt by two climbers on the Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes in 1985. Simon and Joe start off the well, but the climb goes drastically wrong when Joe falls through a cornice and ends up with his shin bone driven up through a knee cap. They attempt to descend the mountain, one length of rope at a time, with Simon sitting back to anchor the rope for Joe. This works for a period, but eventually Joe slides off of a cliff and Simon is stuck bearing the weight. He is beginning to get hypothermic… the story only gets more interesting from this point on. A must see movie for climbers and hikers alike. The cinematography is fantastic.
